Women's Ministry Clothing Exchange

Women’s Ministry is hosting its second annual clothing exchange! Ladies it’s time to clean out your closets, donate some clothes, and find some new favorite things!

Prior to the event, please drop off at least one gently used item of clothing for donation at a donation box located in the front office at the chapel. You can also bring clothing to donate the day of.

The day of, come by anytime between 4 and 6. You will be given two tickets to “buy” two items of clothing. Have fun shopping through the clothes and trying them on in the upstairs rooms.

We will also have some pumpkin bread and apple cider! All of the leftover items of clothes will be donated to the organization Women Giving Back.

Bishop's Mass: Please join Bishop Burbidge and brother priests as he celebrates a Mass of Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 2, at Fairfax Memorial Park, 9900 Braddock Road, Fairfax. We will remember our deceased relatives and loved ones in this moving outdoor liturgy. In the event of inclement weather a rain site will be announced.

A lecture by Fr. Aquinas Guilbeau, OP (Pontifical Faculty of the Immaculate Conception) entitled, "Does Nature Make Laws? An Introduction to the Natural Law Tradition." This event will be held at George Mason University in Merten Hall, Room 1201 starting at 6:30pm.

About the Speaker: A native of Louisiana, Fr. Aquinas Guilbeau, O.P., entered the Province of St. Joseph in 2005. After several years of pastoral work in New York City, Fr. Guilbeau began doctoral studies in moral theology at the University of Fribourg, where he completed a dissertation in moral theology. His topic was Charles De Koninick’s doctrine of the common good. In addition to his teaching, Fr. Guilbeau is senior editor of Aleteia.org (English edition), and he is prior of the Dominican House of Studies.

It's that time of year again, the Catholic Patriots annual Halloween party. This years theme will be Superheros vs. Villains vs. Cow. Yes you heard that right, so come as your favorite hero or villain or as a cow, maybe event combine two of them. Along with our theme, we are going to have a haunted walk through as well as food, dancing, fun games, and a costume contest.

Party starts at 8:00pm at the Catholic Campus Ministry Manor.

We welcome Dr. Reyes who will be talking about "How to say 'yes' to the Lord in Difficult Times."

Dr. Jonathan Reyes is Assistant General Secretary for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. He has served as a professor and college administrator at Christendom College, Vice President for Campus Ministry and Formation for FOCUS and later co-founded the Augustine Institute and served as its first President. In 2009, Reyes was appointed the CEO of Catholic Charities in the Archdiocese of Denver where he co-founded a national college service and formation program called Christ in the City.

Pregnancy Resource Campaign

We will be hosting the Pregnancy Resource Campaign next week Oct. 22nd through the 24th. The PRC is an event where we pass out flyers which list local resources for women who are pregnant or have had abortions.

We could really use some volunteers to hand out flyers on campus during those days. If you would be interested in helping, please fill out the google form: CLICK HERE

Also, we have someone from the Gabriel Project coming on Wednesday Oct. 17 from 4:30-5:30 in the chapel library to give us some pointers for talking about these resources. It would be awesome to get as many volunteers there as possible.

Street Walks

Street Walks

Street Walks is an event where we will be walking around DC in small groups and encountering the homeless of the area. We will strive to get to know them and share with them about resources from the cathedral and the surrounding area. We will conclude our trip to the city with an optional Mass at the cathedral at 5:30pm.

There will be a training after the October 18th TNS (around 7:30pm) in the chapel library for those interested and going on Sunday, October 21st. You must attend the training to attend the street walks.

On Sunday meet in the Fellowship Hall at the chapel at noon to carpool to the Metro. All participants will need a metro card.

Catholic Patriots will be holding our annual tailgate from 5-7pm this Friday, October 12, before we all head over together to EagleBank Arena for Mason Madness.

There will be hamburgers, hotdogs, face painting, outdoor games, and of course most importantly, all of your favorite people! So make sure to wear your green and gold and come out!

Park at the chapel or at the lot across the street and we will be walking as a group to Eagle Bank Arena.

Originally from Connecticut, Sr. Faustina is the youngest of eight children and has a twin sister. She studied psychology and nursing prior to entering the Sisters of Life in 2009. She currently serves as the assistant Vocation Director. She loves life, all things rustic, but Jesus most of all! And, yes, “Jesus, I trust in you,” is her motto.

Returning Student Retreat

This year our fall retreat for returning students is the powerful Father's House retreat run by a team from FOCUS national. The focus of the retreat is on truly discovering God as a loving Father, and on the healing that brings. 

It's Oct 5 - 7, which is Columbus Day weekend, so you'll still have Monday to do your school work. We'll be at the Priestfield Pastoral Center in West Virginia. The cost is only $50 for the whole weekend. Payment envelopes will be in the chapel foyer and they're due with your payment by Sun, Sep 30.

We'll be going to the Nationals Game as part of University Night at Nats park. We are asking $20 to reserve your ticket, however, when you pick your ticket up on Friday, we will give you $10 back 🤑 (the reason behind this is to make sure we do not waste any tickets since there is a set quantity). Please plan to pick up your tickets at 4:30pm on Friday (9/7). Carpooling is the ideal method for transportation. 

You can reserve your ticket in the front office with Maria, after Thursday Night Supper, or after one of the Masses this weekend. Cash only! Buying your ticket reserves your spot!
